Grenadier enters Ohio’s Utica play with high-rate gas wells

EnCap Investments-backed Grenadier Energy Partners III made its entry into eastern Ohio’s Utica play, putting its first three wells online this spring in Belmont County. The company joins operators including EOG Resources, Infinity Natural Resources and Ascent Resources in the play.

The wells, DL Mayberry A #1H and #2H and DL Mayberry B #3H in Warren Township, were drilled with average laterals of 18,100 ft. The A #2H averaged 20,500 mcf/d from 4 May through 30 June, according to Ohio Department of Natural Resources data, while the B #3H averaged 19,800 mcf/d over its first 57 days and the A #1H averaged 18,800 mcf/d over its first 62 days. Combined, the three wells produced 26,705 bbl of stock tank oil and 3.5 bcf of gas in their average first 59 days, with peak 24-hour rates averaging 26,800 mcf/d and 260 barrels of oil per day (bopd) per well.

Grenadier is now drilling a five-well pad, the Sylvester Antolak, also in Belmont County, and plans to bring it online by year end. The company holds close to 18,000 net acres in Ohio and plans a continuous one-rig development program beginning in 2027.
