Transocean lands new work for Conqueror, Proteus, Skyros drillships

Transocean secured new contract work for three ultra-deepwater drillships in its second-quarter fleet status report, released 5 August 2026. An unnamed operator awarded a two-well contract extension to the Deepwater Conqueror in the US Gulf, keeping the rig under contract until January 2027, while a separate unnamed operator awarded the Deepwater Proteus a two-well contract with two one-well options in the same region, running from July through November 2026.

In the Ivory Coast, Murphy awarded a one-well extension to the Deepwater Skyros, keeping the drillship working until September 2026, with a priced option that could extend the assignment to November 2026. The Skyros already has a follow-on contract lined up in Australia with an undisclosed operator, running from April 2027 to March 2028.

The aggregate incremental backlog associated with these three fixtures is approximately $292 million.
