IADC Board of Directors elects 2022 officers
Jeremy Thigpen, Chair, Transocean
Mr Thigpen joined Transocean as President and CEO in 2015. He previously served as SVP and CFO at National Oilwell Varco (NOV). During his 18-year tenure at NOV, Mr Thigpen spent five years as President of the Downhole and Pumping Solutions business and four years as President of the Downhole Tools group. He also served in various management and business development capacities, including Director of Business Development and Special Assistant to the Chairman. Mr Thigpen earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Managerial Studies from Rice University and completed the Program for Management Development at Harvard Business School.
William Andrew “Andy” Hendricks, Vice Chair, Patterson-UTI
Mr Hendricks has served as President and CEO of Patterson-UTI since October 2012 and as a director since June 2017. From April 2012 through September 2012, he served as Chief Operating Officer. From May 2010 through March 2012, Mr Hendricks served as President of Schlumberger Drilling & Measurements. Prior to that, he had worked for Schlumberger in various worldwide locations and capacities since 1988. Mr Hendricks holds a Bachelor of Science in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M University.
Scott McReaken, Secretary/Treasurer, Northern Ocean
Mr McReaken was appointed CEO of the Northern Drilling and Northern Ocean Groups in December 2018. Prior to this appointment, he had been a part of the Seadrill group companies since 2012, where he served as CEO and Director of Sevan Drilling and as CFO of North Atlantic Drilling. Mr McReaken began his career at Arthur Andersen and is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Internal Auditor. He holds a degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
Robin Macmillan, Division VP Drilling Services, Data Gumbo
Mr Macmillan joined Data Gumbo in 2021, where he currently serves as Chief Sales Officer. He attained a degree in geology from the University of Leeds in England and started his oilfield career drilling in the Rio Grande Valley. Since then, he has worked both offshore and onshore in many countries. He was appointed as President of ReedHycalog in 2008 and, following acquisition, Senior Vice President for Business Development at National Oilwell Varco. \
Mike Garvin, Division VP North America Onshore, Patterson-UTI
Mr Garvin is Senior Vice President, Operations at Patterson-UTI Drilling Company. Prior to joining Patterson-UTI, he worked for Ensco as Senior Deepwater Operations Manager, overseeing the construction of deepwater semisubmersible rigs in Singapore and then starting up and managing operations in various locations around the world. Prior to that, Mr Garvin spent 27 years with GlobalSantaFe and its predecessor and successor companies, holding various operations and support leadership positions. Mr Garvin earned a Bachelor of Science in engineering from California Polytechnic State University in 1994.
Brian Woodward, Division VP Offshore, Noble Corp
Mr Woodward is Vice President of Corporate Services at Noble Corp. In this capacity, he manages the company’s HR, IT, supply chain and HSE functions. Mr Woodward previously served as Noble’s Global Operations Manager and has held various domestic and international roles in operations, marketing, investor relations, HR and HSE since joining the company in 2002.
He graduated with a BBA in management from the University of Texas at Austin and received an MBA in Oil and Gas Management from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen.
Miguel Sanchez, Division VP International Onshore, Nabors Drilling International
Mr Sanchez is Vice President, International Operations for Nabors. With over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, he has worked in many geographies and disciplines. He started his career with BP in Venezuela in 1997 as a commercial analyst, then held several roles in the downstream and upstream segments. He has also worked on the services side for Key Energy Services, Saxon Energy Services, Parker Drilling and Weatherford Drilling International. Mr Sanchez has a Bachelor’s in business administration and a Master’s degree from the Arthur D. Little School of Management. He has also completed the Finance Graduate program at Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas, Venezuela.
Jason McFarland, IADC President
Mr McFarland serves as President of IADC. He previously held the dual positions of VP of Corporate Development and Chief of Staff. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Houston – Downtown Campus with a bachelor’s degree in business management. He has served in numerous capacities during his career at IADC, including management of the publications and membership departments.
