Petrobras announces another Campos Basin pre-salt find
Petrobras announced on 4 June the discovery of light oil in the pre-salt layer in the Marlim field of Campos Basin. The discovery was made on the Brava prospect in well 6-MRL-199D-RJS, drilled in water depths of 648 m and located near existing infrastructure in the Marlim and Voador fields. The oil was discovered in pre-salt carbonatic reservoirs that were nestled at a depth of 4,460 m. The company drilled to a total depth of about 5,000 m to reach the reservoir.
Preliminary estimates indicate potential recoverable volumes at about 380 million bbl of oil. Tests will be made to assess the productivity of these reservoirs. Petrobras expects to submit an assessment plan for this accumulation to the National Petroleum Agency soon.
