The number of rigs drilling for oil in the US dropped by five to 763 this week, according to the Baker Hughes weekly rig count. Meanwhile, the number of rigs drilling for natural gas jumped from 181 to 182.
The total US active rig count now stands at 946, with 927 rigs drilling on land and 16 offshore.
