ISO well integrity standard targets entire well lifecycle
The drilling and completion of a well comprise only a small portion of its overall life cycle. However, when wells are designed, engineers must keep in mind the integrity of the well throughout its entire life cycle, Valerie Wilson, Senior Integrity Engineer for Quest Integrity, said at an IADC Drilling Engineers Committee Tech Forum, held on 29 March in Houston. Ms Wilson served on the ISO committee that drafted the ISO 1630 document on Well Integrity. In this video from the forum, she explains how the committee worked to create a document that could provide well integrity guidance for any type of well in any region. She also discusses how the standard addresses well integrity throughout the well’s lifecycle.
