IADC North Sea Chapter recognizes best in safety performance
The IADC North Sea Chapter (NSC) recognized the best in safety performance at its annual Safety Awards ceremony held in Aberdeen on 16 May.
Northern Offshore and Noble Drilling were recognized in the jackup category while Transocean was awarded in the semisubmersibles category. Archer was recognized for its performance with platforms, and Stena Drilling landed the honors for drillships.
Ensco’s Julian Hall, NSC Chairman, noted the importance of recognizing the contributions of individuals, teams and companies to the continued safety for the industry.
Merit awards were presented for drilling operations on the Captain (Archer), Kvitebjorn and Oseberg C (KCA Deutag), Noble Hans Deul and Noble Julie Robertson (both Noble Drilling) and West Alpha (North Atlantic Drilling).
The Environmental Award went to Stena Drilling, and the Associate Member Award was presented to Sodexo.
The Chairman’s Special Award, presented to someone who demonstrates strong safety leadership, went to Stuart Hepburn of Archer.
IADC Houston Chapter donates $95,000
The IADC Houston Chapter recently made two separate donations totaling $95,000 to Houston nonprofit organizations. The funds were collected at two annual chapter fundraising events.
The Houston Chapter donated $40,000 to Home Run Hitters International, which creates interaction and meaningful communication opportunities for children with disabilities. The money was raised at the chapter’s annual dinner/dance and silent auction on 7 February.
The chapter also donated $55,000 to the Oilfield Christian Fellowship of Houston, which distributes bibles throughout the industry. Funds donated were raised at the annual Oilmen’s Christian Charity Shoot on 7 March.
Southeast Asia Chapter elects new officers
The IADC Southeast Asia Chapter elected new chapter officers at its general meeting in Singapore on 1 April.
New IADC Southeast Asia Chapter officers are:
• Chairman: Glenn Gipson, Diamond Offshore;
• Vice Chairman: Manav Kumar,Dynamic Offshore Drilling; and
• Secretary/Treasurer: Graham Buchan, Halliburton.
The newly elected officers will be working closely with IADC staffers and Chapter Advisory Support Committee members from other member companies in the region.
