NOV DuraClose coring system targets unconsolidated formations

In a recent field trial in the Gulf of Thailand, the DuraClose Full Closure system from National Oilwell Varco (NOV) captured three 90-ft sections of core. In this video, David McGehee, Product Line Director, Coring Services at NOV, discusses the success of the field trial and how the system can assist coring operations in unconsolidated formations that would fall out of a normal catcher arrangement. NOV is preparing to launch the system globally, Mr McGehee said at the 2014 OTC in Houston last week.
