XRF-FI, WellSoft link fluid data to formation damage modeling

XRF-FI.ai, powered by NPTLabs, and WellSoft have partnered to connect real-time drilling-fluid measurement with wellbore damage modeling. The companies said the collaboration is intended to give operators earlier insight into whether fluid conditions during drilling could affect well productivity or injectivity.
XRF-FI.ai’s technology measures drilling-fluid composition using X-ray fluorescence, particle size analysis and rheology, tracking factors such as solids content, particle size distribution and barite concentration.
WellSoft’s Wellbore Damage Simulator evaluates how drilling parameters, formation characteristics and pressure conditions can contribute to near-wellbore formation damage. Combining the two datasets is intended to let drilling teams identify conditions that could lead to fluid invasion or formation impairment while a well is still being drilled, rather than after it has been completed and underperforms.
