VPD Panelist Biography – Pamela Wakefield

Pamela Wakefield

Director of Training, Patterson-UTI

Pamela Wakefield has been in the Learning and Development/Talent Development field for more than 25 years, the last six of which has been in the oil and gas industry. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Finance and a Master of Education in Global Training & Development. Pamela has held several positions in the talent development space, such as Instructional Designer, eLearning Specialist, Facilitator, as well as leading the training function. She has international experience delivering learning programs in Singapore, Switzerland, Germany, France and the United Kingdom.

She ran a successful L&D consulting business for over 12 years. She is the Director of Learning & Development for Patterson-UTI Drilling Company LLC. She was the Chairperson for the international Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) Workforce Development Committee for 2015 and 2016, and was very involved in the development of individual and leadership competencies. Pamela feels that it is her duty to be involved in promoting diversity and professional skills development in the industry and is determined to make a positive difference.
