Transocean Equinox spuds Juliet-1 well offshore Australia
The Transocean Equinox semisubmersible spudded the Juliet-1 exploration well on 22 August 2026, the latest well in Amplitude Energy’s East Coast Supply Project (ECSP) campaign offshore Victoria, Australia. Juliet-1 is located in permit VIC/L24 in Commonwealth waters, adjacent to the existing Casino, Henry, Netherby (CHN) pipeline system, and is targeting the Waarre C reservoir.
The well is targeting a gross mean prospective resource of 48.8 Bcf, with an estimated probability of geological success of 84%. Amplitude said the prospect is supported by high Waarre C reservoir amplitudes and a “flat spot” at approximately 2,300 m TVDSS, indicating a gas-water contact.
Juliet-1 is expected to take 20-25 days to drill to a planned total depth of around 2,300 m TVDSS. In the event of a discovery, Amplitude said the well would be logged to evaluate gas composition and reservoir quality, then cased and completed with a subsea tree, including a flow test, before being suspended for future ECSP development.
Amplitude holds a 50% interest in the permit, with joint venture partner O.G. Energy holding the remaining 50%.
