Shell plans sidetrack campaign to lift Ormen Lange gas recovery

Norske Shell announced a new drilling and well intervention campaign at the Ormen Lange gas field in the Norwegian Sea, with its license partners investing in the effort to increase recovery.

The campaign includes two sidetracks from existing wells to access additional gas volumes, plus an option for modifications to a third well. It is expected to add about 3.5 billion standard cu m of gas over the life of the field, with first production expected during 2029.

Ormen Lange has produced for almost 20 years, and Shell operates the field.
