In Memoriam: Frank Springett
Frank Springett, who has been an active member of IADC for many years, passed away on 30 January. He was 45.
Mr Springett graduated in 1995 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from California Maritime Academy and spent his career in the oil industry, first with Transocean Drilling and for the last 17 years with National Oilwell Varco in Houston. Well known and liked in the industry, he was active with IADC and SPE. The author of more than 50 patents, he dedicated his working career to developing new and innovative solutions for the drilling industry and more recently for the renewable energy industry. A dedicated athlete, Mr Springett also completed his first Ironman triathlon in Florida in 2016 and was training for another.
He was a loving and dedicated father and husband – the quintessential family man. He was involved with his daughters’ school activities and their swim team, both as a coach and a judge. Mr Springett is survived by his wife of 20 years, Mercedes; their three daughters, Adrianna, Sara and Megan; and his father and sister. He will be missed by all the many people with whom he came in contact during his very active and tragically cut short life.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 14.00 on Tuesday, 5 February, at:
