New GWD tool increases accuracy, reduces risk of drilling into adjacent wells
Gyrodata recently launched the Quest gyro-while-drilling (GWD) tool to help operators to mitigate the risk of collision in complex projects. Its solid-state sensor package means there is no impact from shock and vibration or magnetic interference, allowing for more accurate wellbore placement when drilling in challenging areas such as the Bakken, said Rob Shoup, Vice President Special Projects, Gyrodata, at the 2019 SPE Annual Technical Conference in Calgary, Canada, on 30 September. In this video with DC, Mr Shoup explains the potential for this tool to replace MWD, as well as initial field results. Watch the video for more information.
