Lost Soldier spuds GMF-5 to launch Wyoming Phase Two drilling

Lost Soldier Oil and Gas (LSOG) spudded the GMF-5 well in Wyoming’s Green River Basin on 18 September 2026, starting Phase Two of its development program at the Wild Mustang Federal Unit. Upland Resources, an LSOG investor, disclosed the spud.

GMF-5 is the program’s third well and is planned to reach about 19,000 ft. It will test a new overpressured zone beneath formations identified by the first two wells and is intended to add information on the deeper Niobrara and Frontier formations. Drilling and well operations are expected to take about 60 days.

LSOG estimates from the two Phase One wells indicate potential resources of up to 5-6 trillion cu ft of gas across multiple stacked formations. The company plans to connect three wells to a pipeline under construction, with production expected before the end of the year, subject to completion of the required development and operational work.
