The D-WIS conceptual architecture (left) consists of a rig, its equipment and an automated drilling control system (ADCS), which are connected to a “stack” of third-party equipment and applications. All transactions between the control system and applications, along with the contextual data behind those interactions, are logged within a data logger. The D-WIS interface acts as a translator between different applications. Users can customize this architecture to fit their needs (right).
