Murphy brings Lac Da Vang, Chinook #8 onstream while adding two oil finds

Murphy Oil’s Bubale West-1X appraisal well offshore Côte d’Ivoire found about 27 m of net oil pay in the Turonian reservoir, with additional hydrocarbons in the deeper Albian reservoir. The well in Block CI-103 reached a total measured depth of about 5,900 m in 2,755 m of water.

Preliminary analysis indicates high-quality oil, and the data will be used to optimize the remaining appraisal program at Bubale. Murphy operates the block with an 85% working interest, with PETROCI holding 15%.

In Vietnam, the Lac Da Trang North-1X exploration well in Block 15-1/05 encountered 40 m of net oil pay at a total measured depth of about 3,834 m in 45 m of water. Murphy and its partners will evaluate the data and assess appraisal and development options, including a potential tieback to the Lac Da Vang field, which reached first oil on 27 September 2026.

Lac Da Vang is expected to ramp up through 2028 as more wells come online, with net peak production of 10,000-15,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed) in 2028-2029. Murphy operates the block with a 40% working interest alongside PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation (35%) and SK Earthon (25%).

In the US Gulf, the Chinook #8 development well in Walker Ridge Block 425 came online through the Pioneer floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel in the Cascade-Chinook field. It reached an initial gross rate of about 15,000 boed, in line with pre-drill expectations. Murphy holds an 86.7% working interest, with Petrobras America holding 13.3%.
