Indonesia Energy begins drilling deeper WK-5 well at Kruh Block in Sumatra

Indonesia Energy (IEC) commenced drilling operations on 21 October 2026 at its WK-5 well at the Kruh Block in Sumatra, Indonesia. The well follows K-29, which was drilled to about 3,400 ft and has recently started oil production.
WK-5 is planned to reach a total depth of about 5,200 ft, significantly deeper than K-29. The well is designed to evaluate additional oil formations and a potentially natural gas-bearing formation identified through IEC’s 3-D seismic program.
PT Bina Mitra Artha’s BMA #9 rig, which drilled K-29, mobilized to the WK-5 site after that well. Oil produced at the approximately 63,000-acre onshore Kruh Block is sold to Pertamina. IEC is working to secure Indonesian government approval to publicly disclose individual well production rates.
