Hilcorp gets go-ahead for 2 new Pretty Creek wells
The Alaska Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Oil and Gas cleared Hilcorp Alaska to drill two new wells on two pads at its Pretty Creek unit on the west side of Cook Inlet. In related approvals, the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission issued drilling permits for the Pretty Creek Unit 06 and 06A wells on Pad 2, and the PCU D-12 well on the Diamond Pad.
Work at the Diamond Pad includes drilling a new grassroots well and installing associated infrastructure, including gas flowlines, electrical instrumentation and line heaters, with the well tied into existing pad infrastructure. Temporary equipment staged for the drilling program will include a rig and pipe, boilers, mud tanks and pumps, rig generators, work trailers and light plants.
Work at Pad 2, located about 5 miles northeast of the mouth of the Beluga River within the Susitna Flats Game Refuge, follows a similar scope, with a new grassroots well tied into existing infrastructure within the pad’s current footprint.
Hilcorp built the Diamond Pad at Pretty Creek in 2025 to access previously undeveloped leases within the unit, and AOGCC records show four wells producing this year at the field, two each at the Diamond Pad and Pad 2.
