Formentera, Tamboran tie in five Beetaloo wells as gas sales begin
Formentera Partners, Daly Waters Energy and Tamboran Resources tied five Shenandoah South wells into the Sturt Plateau Compression Facility as the Beetaloo Basin achieved its first natural gas sales.
Three additional wells are being drilled and will be tied into the plant as the campaign continues. The partners also plan to bring in a second Helmerich & Payne FlexRig, currently being prepared in Houston, with arrival set for Q2 2027.
The gas moves through the Sturt Plateau Compression Facility, which has a nameplate capacity of 48.5 mmcf/d. Volumes are set to build to the full 38.8 mmcf/d contracted to the Northern Territory Government under a take or pay agreement running up to 15 years.
Daly Waters Energy entered the Beetaloo Basin in 2022 through its joint venture with Tamboran and holds more than 1.9 million net acres in the core of the basin. The company is expected to transition from partner to operator once its retention license applications are approved, likely in Q4 2026.
