In Memoriam: William (Bill) Haley

William (Bill) Haley, Jr, age 87, President of Houston Systems Manufacturing, passed away on 8 June 2017. Mr Haley had a long and distinguished career in the oil and gas industry.

During his career, he served as a senior executive with several divisions of Dresser Industries in Houston, before being transferred to Salisbury, Maryland in 1969. In 1976, Mr Haley left Dresser and joined Houston Systems.

After his retirement in 1981, Mr Haley was an entrepreneur, serving as Chairman and CEO of the startup Quality Oilfield Products, and later adding a charter business, Gulf Winds. He was also involved in numerous investment companies.

Mr Haley was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 7 December, 1929 and served during the Korean War. While stationed in Washington DC as a communication specialist, he met his wife of 64 years, Delphine Haley. They married 27 September 1952 and relocated for a short period back to Pittsburgh, before returning to Houston in 1957, and again more permanently in 1959. Both were long-standing members of the Houston Engineering and Scientific Society and the Lakeside Country Club. Mr Haley is preceded in death by his wife, and is survived by his four children and 10 grandchildren.
