Borr Prospector 5 jackup heads to Dussafu for MaBoMo Phase 2 drilling

The Borr Prospector 5 jackup began mobilizing to the MaBoMo production platform on the Dussafu Marin permit offshore Gabon, where it will shortly start the MaBoMo Phase 2 drilling campaign. The campaign comprises four new production infill wells in the Hibiscus and Hibiscus South fields, and the first well is expected onstream in early 2027.

The rig move follows two open water appraisal wells in the northwest Hibiscus area. The first well found a 16-m oil column in Gamba reservoir sands next to the Hibiscus field, and a sidetrack from the same wellbore found a 30-m oil column in an undeveloped part of the field. The operator’s preliminary assessment puts aggregate recoverable oil at about 8-9 million bbl.

The joint venture is now assessing a fifth production well at the end of the Phase 2 campaign, targeting Hibiscus and expected to drain at least 6 million bbl. Panoro Energy holds a 17.5% interest in the permit.
