Maurel & Prom spuds Encantado-1X with NG Energy at Colombia’s Sinú-9 block

Maurel & Prom Colombia spudded the Encantado-1X well on 6 October at the Sinú-9 block in Colombia, and drilling is underway. Maurel & Prom operates the Sinú-9 consortium with a 61% interest, and NG Energy holds the other 39% through its subsidiary. Encantado-1X is the next well in the consortium’s 2026 drilling program, and at least one more well is expected at Sinú-9 this year.
The well is intended to define the southern limits of the reservoir and provide depth calibration across the block. It targets an area expected to have higher pressure than previously drilled locations, which NG Energy expects to help production rates. Encantado-1X is also expected to confirm gas in the Pre-CDO formation and verify the potential for liquids in the reservoir.
Separately, NG Energy tied in the Aruchara-6 development well at its Maria Conchita block, where it flowed at up to 8.7 mcf/d gross during initial tests. The well was drilled to 9,352 ft, and field production there is expected to rise to 23 mcf/d gross from 16 mcf/d.
