Afentra partners send Borr Grid rig to Impala-2 ahead of Pacassa SW sidetrack

The Block 3/05 joint venture offshore Angola agreed to send the Borr Grid jackup straight to the Impala-2 development well, with the rig returning to the Pacassa SW sidetrack once Impala-2 is complete. The revised sequence is meant to optimize rig use while preparations and equipment mobilization for the sidetrack are finished.

Impala-2 is set to spud in mid-October, with drilling and completion expected to take about 80 days. Completion is targeted for the end of December, with first oil expected in January 2027 at an initial gross rate of about 4,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd).

Reservoir pressure and productivity data from the Impala-1 intervention, which restarted production from that well, were built into the final well plan, and Afentra expects an incremental resource upgrade for the field after Impala-2.

Pacassa SW encountered 136 m of net oil pay but will be sidetracked because operational problems are restricting access to the wellbore. First oil from the well is now expected in Q1 2027 after connection to existing Pacassa production infrastructure. Afentra said remapping of the discovery is continuing and is expected to confirm incremental resources of up to about 70 million barrels of oil.
