TotalEnergies taps Vallourec for 16,000 tons of tubulars in the Caspian Sea

TotalEnergies awarded Vallourec a contract to supply oil country tubular goods (OCTG) and line pipe for the Absheron gas field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. The package totals more than 16,000 tons of tubular products.

For the OCTG scope, Vallourec will supply premium pipe with VAM SLIJ-3 semi-flush connections, designed for demanding offshore environments, along with accessories and its dope-free CLEANWELL solution. The line pipe scope covers about 159 km of pipe with an anti-corrosion coating for onshore and offshore use. Vallourec will also support TotalEnergies through its local VAM Caspian entity.

Absheron lies about 100 km southeast of Baku in around 500 m of water. The field is being developed to produce up to 6 billion cu m of gas per year and 47,000 barrels per day of condensate, with the gas going to the domestic market in Azerbaijan and to export.
