TAG Oil’s T-200 well finds oil-bearing Abu Roash F reservoir in Egypt

TAG Oil drilled its T-200 well to a final depth of 4,160 m at the Badr Oil Field in the BED-1 concession in Egypt’s Western Desert. The NDC-9 rig drilled the well, which targeted the Abu Roash F reservoir.

Preliminary interpretation of drilling data, mud logs and wireline logs indicates an oil-bearing reservoir. The interval between 4,102 m and 4,160 m comprises 58 m of limestone with good oil shows, including 14 m of net oil pay. Average porosity is 8%, reaching up to 10%, and the logs point to natural fracture development.

TAG Oil will move straight to completion and testing, with initial production test results expected later this month.
