Askeladden jackup drills gas discovery at Gullfaks South in the North Sea
Equinor and its partners discovered gas at the Gullfaks South field in the North Sea, roughly 190 km northwest of Bergen. The find holds an estimated 0.5 million to 1.6 million standard cubic meters of recoverable oil equivalent, or 3.3 million to 10.3 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe).
The Askeladden jackup drilled exploration well 34/10-D-4 BH as a sidetrack during the drilling of a production well.
The discovery sits inside the Gullfaks production license, so ownership matches the field: Equinor, Petoro and OMV.
