TotalEnergies, partners approve full-field development of Absheron gas field

TotalEnergies and its partners took a final investment decision to develop the Absheron gas and condensate field in the Caspian Sea, about 100 km southeast of Baku. TotalEnergies operates the field with a 35% interest, alongside SOCAR at 35% and XRG at 30%.

Gas from the Absheron Full Field Development will come from four subsea wells and travel to shore through a subsea pipeline. A new, fully electrified onshore plant will process it. The project will lift field production to 6 billion cu m per annum (BCMA) of gas and 47,000 barrels of condensate per day. The first phase, which started up in 2023, has a capacity of 1.5 BCMA and 12,000 barrels of condensate per day. Start-up of the full-field project is expected in 2029.
