Five Shenandoah South wells tied in as Formentera drills on in the Beetaloo

Formentera Partners and its Australian operating company Daly Waters Energy completed drilling, completions and tie-back work on all five wells of the Shenandoah South 2 pad in the Beetaloo Basin, Northern Territory, Australia, with three additional wells now being drilled. The wells feed the newly commissioned Sturt Plateau Compression Facility (SPCF), which began gas commissioning this week.

The SPCF has a nameplate capacity of 48,500 mcf/d, with 38,800 mcf/d contracted to the Northern Territory Government under a long-term take-or-pay agreement. The plant is owned by the SPCF Trust, a 50/50 joint venture between Daly Waters Energy and Tamboran Resources, with Tamboran operating the project and managing the drilling campaign.

Formentera entered the Beetaloo play in 2022 and now holds 1.9 million net acres in the basin. In March 2026, Formentera and Daly Waters Energy brought INPEX into the basin to accelerate development work, and the group has since announced plans to add a Helmerich & Payne FlexRig, expected to arrive in the second quarter of 2027 to continue drilling in the basin.
