Southern Energy reaches total depth at Williamsburg test well

Southern Energy drilled and cased the Terrible Creek 21-2 #2 Cotton Valley vertical well in the Williamsburg field in Mississippi, releasing the drilling rig 10 September 2026.
The well reached a total depth of approximately 18,825 ft and encountered prospective sands in the Sligo, Hosston and Cotton Valley formations. Southern Energy said the well was drilled from spud to total depth in less than 22 days, one of the fastest wells in the area to reach depths greater than 18,500 ft.
The company will begin completion and testing operations in the Cotton Valley formation, with results to follow. The well is the first of two farm-out commitment wells planned for the Williamsburg field this year under a joint venture wellbore participation agreement announced in May 2026, in which Southern holds a 50% working interest.
