Tubular handling system reduces pipe handling by 50%

Every time a worker has to handle tubulars, from the pipe yard to the drilling rig, there is risk for incident or injury. Global Gravity created the TubeLock system to reduce the handling required by halving the number of times a pipe is handled compared with wire bundling systems, Kim Christensen, Director of Sales and Marketing for Global Gravity, said during an IADC Spark Tank event on 2 August. Moving pipe prep – including tallying drifting and fitting of the centralizer – from the rig to the yard also yields cost savings for operators, he added.
