Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operators (ADCO) general manager Abdul Munim Saif Al Kindy, a former member of the IADC Executive Committee, has been selected as chairman of the 2010 Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC). Paper proposals are being accepted for the event, scheduled for 1-4 November at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

“I am delighted to take up the role of conference chairman for ADIPEC 2010 and look forward to working with DMB World Media to help shape and develop the conference,” Mr Al Kindy said. “ADIPEC has helped to position the region as one of the most important geographies in the international energy industry, and I look forward to being a part of that in 2010.”

Mr Al Kindy has worked in key oil and gas regions around the world, including the UAE, Europe and the United States. He also serves on the Board of ESNAAD and National Drilling Company (NDC) and is a member of the Petroleum Institute Board of Governors.

ADIPEC’s new event director commented, “We are honored to have Mr Al Kindy on board for next year. His unrivaled knowledge of the industry, both regionally and internationally, will be a great asset to the conference and the event as a whole.

“In my new role as event director, I will be looking to increase awareness of ADIPEC in the international market, in addition to demonstrating the huge economic importance of the event for the region, having brought in $1.5 billion worth of business alone in 2008,” he continued.

The 2010 ADIPEC, which is being organised in conjunction with SPE, will include a variety of topics under three main themes: subsurface, surface and vision. Industry delegates are invited to submit papers for consideration by the programme committee. Papers should be submitted no later than 1 April 2010 and must include an abstract of no more than 500 words on the scope and nature of work upon which the paper will be based.

These may be submitted either online at www.spe.org/events/adipec or via e-mail to formsdubai@spe.org, and must specify at least one primary category relevant to the paper topic:

Subsurface

  • Drilling
  • Field development
  • Geoscience and reservoir engineering
