The head of the Board of Directors of Darnytsia Group, Dmytro Shymkiv, said that modern pharmaceutical companies in Ukraine are no longer inferior to the world ones in technology and quality. The European Community is satisfied with the way pharmaceutical companies operate in Ukraine.
News websites that follow developments in the pharmaceutical industry publish some reports and analyses. Based on this information, it can be concluded that this industry is significantly ahead of many others around the world in terms of innovations. The impetus for this, experts believe, was the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ukrainian pharmaceutical industry is already undergoing rapid changes due to the development of technology, although not so long ago, the process of introducing new technologies was very slow. Experts refer to the main trends in the pharmaceutical industry, such as artificial intelligence, additive manufacturing, and other technologies. Increased investment, a growth of IT startups, and the expiration of several key patents raised inter-organizational collaboration, and a supportive regulatory environment is driving innovations across all pharmaceutical trends.
The shortening of the lead-to-competition period is a direct consequence of the emphasis on blockbuster drugs. Large companies concentrate on a few major drugs in their product range. There has also been a tendency to focus research and development on a small number of widespread pathologies, some of which are important unresolved medical problems. From 1970 to 2000, the time during which an innovative drug had no competitors decreased every year. Today, a new drug and its competitor often enter the market at the same time or over several months. That is why it is so essential for pharmaceutical companies to speed up production.
Shymkiv proudly added that Ukrainians did not notice a shortage of drugs during the lockdown. And in his opinion, it was achieved due to the well-established powerful production of all the necessary drugs. The emphasis is on those medicines that are necessary for the treatment of diseases most common in Ukraine. And Darnytsia already manufactures over 250 types of drugs. This result is perfect, and the Ukrainian pharmaceutical industry goes global now.
